Chair Massage, On Site ~ $100 per hour
(one hour minimum)
In the workplace or for a special event. The therapist brings a chair specifically designed for massage to your place. Massage is received fully clothed, no lotion is needed. Brief session times allow for a number of people to receive the benefits of massage. Relieves stress and muscle tension. Relaxing and rejuvenating.
Your first session begins with a health intake form. We will talk about what you would like to gain from receiving therapeutic massage. If you are receiving goal-oriented massage for a specific issue, your massage therapist will perform an assessment to locate specific muscles and tissues that may be involved with the symptoms you are experiencing.
Your session may include any of the massage modalities listed below. It depends on what techniques are most effective to address your goals for a session or series of treatments.
Description of massage modalities: Your massage therapist may use any combination in a session for best results.
Deep-Tissue Massage: Techniques that utilize deep-tissue/deep-muscle massage are administered to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. The muscles must be relaxed in order to effectively perform deep-tissue massage; otherwise, tight surface muscles prevent the practitioner from reaching deeper musculature. It helps with chronic muscular pain and injury rehabilitation, and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by arthritis and tendinitis.
Myofascial release is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to release fascial restrictions that are no longer relevant or are impeding progress. Palpation of the tissue texture of various fascial layers is performed. Upon locating an area of fascial tension, gentle pressure is applied in the direction of the restriction. Myofascial release is an effective therapeutic approach in the relief of cervical (neck) pain, back pain, fibromyalgia, scoliosis, neurological dysfunction, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headaches.
One of the most commonly taught and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a system of treatment designed to either relax and/or energize the body by stimulating circulation. Five basic strokes, all flowing toward the heart, are used to manipulate the soft tissues of the body. The disrobed client is covered by a sheet and blanket, with only the area being worked on exposed. Therapists use a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive, and tapping movements, with the application of oil, to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.
