About Katharine
I'm a 2014 graduate of The Healing Arts & Massage School in Raleigh, North Carolina, and a member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals.
My career in wellness began in 2009 when I earned my Holistic Health Coach Certification from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in Manhattan. While working in wellness centers across Long Island and NYC, I supported clients in reaching their individual health goals. During that time, I saw firsthand how powerful bodywork can be as part of a truly holistic approach—an experience that inspired me to become a massage therapist.
I specialize in deep tissue, Swedish, therapeutic and prenatal massage. My work is rooted in an intuitive, restorative approach. I blend targeted techniques tailoring each session to your specific needs—whether you’re looking to unwind and de-stress or address chronic tension and pain.
I truly believe that when your body feels supported, everything else begins to shift. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down, feel cared for, and leave each session feeling better than when you walked in.
The Benefits of Massage
Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:
-
Decreased anxiety.
-
Enhanced sleep quality.
-
Greater energy.
-
Improved concentration.
-
Increased circulation.
-
Reduced fatigue.
Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:
-
Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
-
Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
-
Ease medication dependence.
-
Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
-
Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
-
Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
-
Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
-
Increase joint flexibility.
-
Lessen depression and anxiety.
-
Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
-
Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
-
Reduce post-surgery adhesions and swelling.
-
Reduce spasms and cramping.
-
Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
-
Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
-
Relieve migraine pain.
